In the span of a few seconds, Susan Sherayko and her husband lost almost everything they owned in an avalanche on the California hillside abutting their home.
Almost everything was destroyed as tons of water-logged soil and rocks cascaded a landslide of mud and rocks that crashed through walls, slithered into every crack and crevice, and buried most of what they held dear. Their house was condemned. They didn’t know it, but insurance companies had stopped selling coverage for landslides because of the cost. The story of how Susan got through the tragedy and found a way to turn it into a blessing is riveting.
Susan wrote, “The sight was staggering. Huge boulders were piled behind the house to the roof. We could not see the mountain in the dark, but it was clear that something horrific had occurred.”
She is the author of Rainbows Over Ruins, the story of her journey from homeless and thousands of dollars in debt to becoming an author and Emmy nominated Line Producer for the daily morning lifestyle show “Home and Family” which airs on the Hallmark Channel.
Susan’s podcast interview for Boldly Bald Women: How to Survive and Thrive in a Hair Obsessed World is fascinating. Here is the link: Episode 06, Rainbows Over Ruins. Enjoy the interview, and please leave a review on iTunes. Subscribe to the podcast to be sure to receive upcoming episodes.
To leave a review, scroll down a few lines to “Write a Review” and click. That’s it. It’s a lot easier and faster to leave a review than it is to write out the directions, but if you haven’t done it before it can feel a bit daunting.
